If you're a real supermarket nerd like me, you'll probably recognize this storefront from Acme Style, who has reported extensively on the history of this former pitched-roof store in Garfield, NJ. So we'll take a look at a bit of the building's history in a little bit, but Acme Style didn't go inside Food Village and Campesina Farm here wasn't open yet at the time of Acme Style's visit. So let's check out those two stores! (See Food Village here.)
Campesina features three aisles of produce with a service seafood counter on the back wall. It's a very nice small store with a great selection.
Service seafood is not something I expected to see in this store, nor bulk foods. I'm impressed with how much they fit in here!
A look down the middle aisle from the back to the front. I like the multi-tiered shelving with produce and some grocery items underneath!
And the third and final aisle. Now for a brief look to supplement Acme Style's coverage of the property...
An overview of the whole strip, with Campesina Farm in the middle right under the Midland Square sign and Food Village at the far left side.
I'm pretty sure this sign would've been left over from ACME. I do wonder whether the ACME sign was originally in the top frame (Midland Square/Jersey Dollar/Food Village) or the one that now has the E-Z Laundromat sign. That wraps up this store, but make sure you check out Food Village too! Our next stop is to the southeast in Wood-Ridge right here on The Independent Edition.
FYI - the Here link in this post doesn't work (though the one in the post below for the Food Village does).
ReplyDeleteThanks for the tip - it's fixed.
