West Norriton Farmers Market Owner: unknown Opened:  2013 Cooperative:  IGA Location:  1930 W Main St, West Norriton, PA Photographed:  July 22, 2021 A few days ago, we saw the DeKalb Supermarket in downtown Norristown. It's not a bad store at all, in fact it's quite solid, but I was hoping for a more exciting product selection, better perishables, and more A&P relics. I didn't exactly get what I wanted there, but I am very pleased to say that I found all of that here at the West Norriton Farmers Market, also doing business as Super Gigante. This store was constructed in the 1980s as a Genuardi's, which relocated from the other side of the strip mall. When Genuardi's went out of business, this roughly 35,000 square foot store was not acquired and sat vacant for a while before Super Gigante, a chain of international supermarkets in the Philadelphia and Wilmingto...

Bell's Market Owner: Vladimir Kushnir Opened:  2018 Cooperative:  IGA Location:  1055 Bustleton Pk, Feasterville-Trevose, PA Photographed:  January 6, 2020 Welcome to the Bell's Market of Feasterville-Trevose, a very interesting store for a few reasons. It was constructed as a Genuardi's in 1998 on the site of a former Food Fair, then sold to GIANT Food Stores when Genuardi's went under. In 2018, GIANT moved to a new location a few blocks west, and Philadelphia-based Russian supermarket Bell's Market moved in. They did some light renovation, but the bones of GIANT and Genuardi's are still there We enter on the left side of the front to a large, spacious produce department. In the back left corner we have the deli and prepared foods section, with large sections for olives, pickles, prepared foods, and so on. Rastelli Market Fresh Owner: Ray Rastelli Jr. Opened:  2014 Cooperative:  none Location:  710 NJ-73, Marlton, Evesham, NJ Photographed:  January 2021 It's our second to last store here in New Jersey, and it's an impressive one! We arrive at the 35,000 square foot Rastelli Market Fresh in Evesham Township (also referred to as Marlton), which opened in about half of a Genuardi's in 2014. It's Rastelli's second retail location (their first is to the southwest in Deptford , and is much smaller). The butcher shop-turned-gourmet grocer also has a very large wholesale division , which today is the business's focus. Like Patel Brothers in East Windsor , Genuardi's facade is fully intact here but inside, there's nothing left from the former tenant. The interior has been beautifully renovated by Off the Wall, a name that I'm sure is now familiar to any readers of this blog.
