Cedar Knolls Farmers Market Owner: Unknown Opened:  2018-2020 Cooperative:  none Location:  99 Ridgedale Ave, Cedar Knolls, Hanover, NJ Photographed:  June 2020 Our next Hanover store is this 4400 square foot produce market in the Cedar Knolls section. The middle part of this strip mall was originally a 9000 square foot Foodtown, which was owned by Bill Michas Jr and Michas Brothers/Manyfoods supermarkets. The store moved into a former Stop & Shop in 1980, later changing hands a few times, farther down Ridgedale in the Cedar Knolls Plaza. This produce market was very well-run and I found the products to be of excellent quality, but unfortunately, after less than three years in business the store closed in late 2020. The store is made up of about 1/2 or 2/3 produce in the front, with dairy in the back right corner and frozen in the back left corner. LC Supermarket Owner: Louie Castenana Opened:  2001 Cooperative:  Krasdale Location:  135 Speedwell Ave, Morristown, NJ Photographed:  June 2020 We've seen this store before, back in 2018, though only the outside . So I thought it was about time to get back and check out the interior! The store is set up as an L, so there's a short extension for the produce and frozen department in the front left corner (seen here). The right half of the store extends much farther back, but even all together, the store is just 3100 square feet. Nice selection of produce in the tiny space, for sure. The first aisle is part of the expansion, extending behind the produce department but only about halfway to the back of the store. It's also a dead-end, with dairy on the left and single-serve drinks on the right. I believe the store has three additional grocery aisles in the main building. The Great Swamp area is done and we're moving north! Our next group of stores is going to be in the greater Morristown area. We're going to start in Morristown to check out four stores before heading northeast for a few stops in Morris Plains, a few stores in Hanover Township (which encompasses Cedar Knolls and Whippany), and finally back to the southeast to finish up in Florham Park. This is a pretty short group -- it's going to take us only a little over a week, although quite a few of those days will be doubled or tripled up for multiple stores at once. And we have a nice variety, with posts here, on  Grocery Archaeology , and on  The Market Report . And good thing too, since we only had one store here in the Great Swamp area.
