Look Inside: Food Plus Supermarket - Flushing, NY

Food Plus Supermarket
Owner: Carlos Castillo, Jr.
Opened: 1996
Cooperative: Krasdale
Location: 44-24 Kissena Blvd, Flushing, NY
Photographed: July 2018
Today we're looking inside one of the very few non-Asian supermarkets in Flushing. Originally a Waldbaum's and later a CTown, this Krasdale-affiliated store remains popular because there are few other choices for standard American-style groceries and Latin and Caribbean products in Flushing.
From this video (I have no idea what's going on in it, by the way), we can see that the interior has been lightly renovated, with several areas of new fixtures, new flooring, and a new paint scheme on the walls which I must say looks great with this decor. So let's go in for our own look inside as of summer 2018.
Substantial produce department in the first two aisles.
The produce runs along the front wall of the store, with deli at the end of the first aisle and meats along the side wall opposite the registers.
As much as I do like this decor, it's looking really good in blue in that video.
Clean, organized, and peaceful grocery aisles! A nice break after driving through downtown Flushing.
And frozen and dairy in the last aisle.
And that's a wrap! We have two more Asian stores here in Flushing before we move out to Bayside for some additional content (and then circle back to southern Flushing).
